Prof. Mervat Abou Oaf Egyptian Delegate Representative of NCW at the WDB Trust Convention in South Africa:

Invited by HE Former First Lady Mrs. Zanele Mbeki, Founder and Patron of the Women Development Bank (WDB) Trust, Professor Mervat Abou Oaf participated in WDB 25th Anniversary Celebration Dialogue hosted from the 11th to 15th July 2016, at the University of Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. In her capacity as a delegate to the National Council for Women (NCW) under the leadership of Dr. Maya Morsy, and as a member in the Foreign Affairs Committee chaired by Amb. Mona Omar, Abou Oaf delivered her presentation of the Egyptian NCW as a model to be pursued, in a panel of five distinguished panelists in the commission entitled: “S. African Woman in Dialogue (SAWID). In the NCW presentation, Abou Oaf delivered a brief about NCW principals, framework, and mandate with the mission and vision of women’s empowerment and protection. Achievements and challenges were also conveyed, together with the NCW governmental, non-governmental, regional and international partners such as the CEDAW, UNDP, UNWomen among others. Egyptian Women aspiration and demands after the 25th Revolution were also shared, together with NCW strategy and future plans. Recommendations at the WDB closure session were made, to employ the Egyptian NCW as an effective model to follow.
